Memorandum of Understanding
An important step in establishing the ITTA as the officially recognized, and independent, body representing tourism, leisure and hospitality businesses in Thanet, has been the creation of a Memorandum of Understanding between ITTA and Thanet District Council.
We share with Thanet District Council, and Visit Kent, the objective of making the Isle of Thanet an even more attractive, and successful, tourist destination.
To that end the Memorandum of Understanding, (the MoU), recognises that we have shared objectives:
- To bring visitors to Thanet for the economic benefit of all
- To promote the importance of the visitor economy in general, and in Thanet in particular, across all sectors on a national, regional and district level
- To work together to ensure that Tourism has a high profile with Thanet District, and Kent County, councils
The MoU also recognises that, as a representative body, the ITTA has the responsibility to provide a unified and constructively challenging industry voice. To do that we need to know what the people in the Tourism, Hospitality and Leisure industry in the Isle of Thanet are thinking.

We encourage you to read the full Memorandum. Then, please make sure we know what you think are the priorities are for the forthcoming season. This is your organisation and we need to ensure your view is fairly represented.

Mission Statement
As part of ITTA ongoing development, the ITTA Executive Committee have re-examioned ITTA's role and concluded that we are a valuable resource within Thanet. A mission statement has been agreed to help us focus on our priorities.
The forecasts for the next 12 months are suggesting 2008 could well be a very good year for the UK's own tourism industry with more people taking short breaks and visits within the UK.
Let us work together to make sure that the Isle of Thanet is at the forefront and maximises the benefits this Isle richly deserves.
Working with our members we see the ITTA's objectives for this year to be the provision of an more independent voice for Thanet’s tourism, leisure and hospitality industry. This voice which will be used to encourage all organisations to work in partnership, establishing a sustainable, vibrant and prosperous tourism, leisure and hospitality product.
Have your say by contacting any of the Executive Committee members whose details can be found on the ITTA's mission statement
